Want A Dumb Kid? Spank Them.

Friday, September 25, 2009

A new study has discovered a direct correlation between spanking and IQ. The more you spank your kid, the study says, the dumber they will end up being.

Scientists arrived at this conclusion by studying kids in two age groups, testing their IQs then revisiting them several years later. Those who had been spanked by their parents had lower IQs on the back end by an average of 5 points.

The scientists claim their study took into account social background and other factors that might have skewed the statistics

See assholes? You can't beat sense into your kids. You can beat the sense out of them though. Try to keep that in mind the next time you get drunk and kick the shit out of little Maggie for not doing the dishes.

Some kids are the devil's spawn and need an ass-whooping nearly every day, other kids are pre-disposed to better behavior. The little monsters that seemingly come out of nowhere in an otherwise normal family are deficient in their mental faculties right out of the gate (usually).

Is that a dude doing the spanking in that picture? Looks like a woman in drag.

Weren't ALL kids spanked a couple of generations ago?

Tonya-perhaps that explains why so many people are so damn stupid, in that case.

Hmmmm. Perhaps.

I don't really believe this. My kids got spanked and did very well in school and even college. It might be more about ignorant ppl doing the spanking that actually have stupid kids, just like them. I was spanked, I'm old! And I did fine too. Everybody got spanked, including the scientists that did this study. Gawd, they got nothing else to do? Study cancer, fix that. Then we can talk about this trivial sh**.
I don't believe in spanking, but it happens. Some kids are just the bad seed. You can't get thru to them. Maybe they need more discipline.

Child buttock-battering vs. DISCIPLINE:

Child buttock-battering for the purpose of gaining compliance is nothing more than an inherited bad habit.

Its a good idea for people to take a look at what they are doing, and learn how to DISCIPLINE instead of hit.

I think the reason why television shows like "Supernanny" and "Dr Phil" are so popular is because that is precisely what many (not all) people are trying to do.

There are several reasons why child bottom-slapping isn't a good idea. Here are some good, quick reads recommended by professionals:

Plain Talk About Spanking
by Jordan Riak,

The Sexual Dangers of Spanking Children
by Tom Johnson,

NO VITAL ORGANS THERE So They Say
by Lesli Taylor M.D. and Adah Maurer Ph.D.

Most compelling of all reasons to abandon this worst of all bad habits is the fact that buttock-battering can be unintentional sexual abuse for some children. There is an abundance of educational resources, testimony, documentation, etc available on the subject that can easily be found by doing a little research with the recommended reads- visit www.nospank.net.

Just a handful of those helping to raise awareness of why child bottom-slapping isn't a good idea:

American Academy of Pediatrics,
American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry,
Center For Effective Discipline,
PsycHealth Ltd Behavioral Health Professionals,
Churches' Network For Non-Violence,
Nobel Peace Prize recipient Archbishop Desmond Tutu,
Global Initiative To End All Corporal Punishment of Children
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In 26 countries, child corporal punishment is prohibited by law (with more in process). In fact, the US was the only UN member that did not ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
