Elizabeth Edwards has no interest in jumping off her husband's gravy train, especially not while she's in the middle of cancer treatment. Hence her tortured attempts at defending her philandering hubby, including the inane assertion that John has been "courageous" in the way he's fessed up to his affair with skank Rielle Hunter. I'm sure she means that too.
The whole situation is ugly and unfortunate and would be wonderfully entertaining if only Elizabeth didn't have cancer. That takes the shine off it as gossip. Otherwise it's a lovely Gary Hart/Bill Clinton sort of thing.
Notice that, when a male Democrat gets caught in a sex scandal, it's with a woman, but when a male Republican gets caught in a sex scandal it's with a man or a boy. I don't know what that says about Democrats vs. Republicans from a psychological standpoint except that closeted fags tend to gravitate to the GOP. It's all self-righteousness as a cover for what is perceived as immoral behavior. It's too bad people can't just fuck around as they please...it's just biology folks.

As a Woman,I'd have to say these women, Elizabeth,Hillary and so many others are setting us back, by Accepting this kind of Behavior. Politics or Not Cheating is Not right. I agree that Marriage is Bondage ( in Most Cases ) but John Edwards & Newt Gingrich cheating on a Dying Spouse is Ten times worse! Face the Music and get a fucking Divorce!!!!!

I'm totally with you, Anon 10:49!! Krikey, divorce isn't like a sex change--people move on and improve their lives and find a chance to be HAPPY. Marriage is NOT goof-proof! Divorce may still be seen as some (the chronically brain-dead) as "evil", but a necessary evil it is. Elizabeth would have PLENTY of money for her health care, etc., if she bailed on John. No one's buying the farce, you two, so give it up already. Jebbus!
Elizabeth's cancer aside: She freakin' knew about the affair while the 2 of them were working on getting him the nomination. You can totally see it now in her body language in the clips from the campaign trail.

If only Elizabeth had taken 10 minutes to study the body language of smiles. One look with a trained eye at this picture of her lying piece of shit husband literally screams "phony". Who knows; maybe she wouldn't even have cancer now if she had known. Lies and concealed truths are hell.
Either that or she's known all along, though I don't see complicity as much as cluelessness in this picture.
It's called ambition people. They live through their husbands fame. Hilary supporting Bill through all of that bullshit and the impeachment made me ill. Yet, as a woman, I was made to feel guilty for not supporting her and Bill's quest to get back into the White House. How could anyone respect Hilary after the shit she's taken from Bill?
These aren't marriages, but partnerships with the wife's political ambition just as great as the husbands. They will sacrifice anything to keep the partnership together. This woman was in her late 40's and early 50's going through all kinds of in-vitro fertilization to give this dick a son.
They both use her cancer in a desperate attempt to get themselves in the White House. These couples deserve each other.
No wonder the woman is sick with cancer. Can you say MARTYR? She needs a reality check or she'll die for that loser.
John McCain better stay away fron this one. He doesn't want people talking about how he cheated on his firts wife, Carol who was crippled in a car accident with several women and eventually Cindi McCain. Edwards is a low life, but the Rethugs better be careful about this one.
