Brad Pitt and Sean Penn are working together on reclusive auteur Terrence Malick's new film Tree of Life...but there's no budding friendship between the two actors.
Tensions are said to be high between the stars, at least partly because of Penn's friendship with Brad's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston (Jennifer directed a short film starring Sean's wife Robin Wright). And there's also the little matter of Penn's abrasive demeanor.
"They’re far from friends," a source told Life & Style. "Sean is a bossy kind of guy, and that’s just not Brad’s style. He’s mellower. So spending time together has been a big challenge."
Could it also be possible that Brad just resents Penn? I mean, let's face it...Sean Penn may be a dickhead, but he is a brilliant actor. Brad? Adequate at best.
Also, let's not underestimate the Angelina factor here. Any man who lives with that evil bitch is going to wind up in a pretty foul mood. It's possible that Brad is incapable of getting along with anyone at this point.

I agree with you. Sean Penn? one of the greatest actors of our time. Brad Pitt? well...let's just say that he is lucky he has (or in my opinion had) his looks.
Totally agree with you, except that Robin starred in a short film directed by Jennifer - Room 10 for Glamour.
Brad needs a ball-busting succubus like Angina in his life to tell him where to go and when and what to wear and how to do his hair, etc.
Yes, his agression is probably misplaced. He takes his anger out on others because Angie and that zoo full of kids he lives in has to have him on the brink of mass murder.
Sean Penn, a great actor? Really?? I know it's conventional wisdom but I always saw the guy as a desperate hambone. I mean, honestly, when did chewing every possible piece of scenery and making faces like a retard become great acting?
Brad is mellower? He's whipped. Sean Penn would make quick work of him AND Jolie, but I doubt Jolie could handle him. She wishes.

I agree with Crabbie's analysis. Pitt has been known to be prone to envy, and Jolie is not making things easy for him at home.
Sean Penn is definitely a very talented actor. The list is too long to type. Yes! Sean is a major Asshole too! but at least he is not a pussy whipped, skank loving, pretty boy like Brad.

Serious actors like Penn have no respect for someone like Brad who made it on looks alone. His acting has always been uneven and marginal.
Pitt always looks like he's had the life force drained out of him. I doubt he has the time or energy for friends; hence the motorcycle. It's probably his only means of escape.
Let's face it: Brad Pitt is a good man and a good father, as well as one of the most handsome men in movie history, but his acting is tolerable at best. Sean Penn? One of the most original, most brilliant artists ever. I adore The Pledge and Mystic River - both movies left me reeling for a while. He acts the way he directs - 1000 degrees above zero!
