Update: Cruise Worship

A tribute to Tom Cruise from some kind of Scientology awards presentation. Clip # 1 features an intro by Scientology leader David Miscavige:

Clip #2 is the pro-wrestling-style opening to the Cruise video tribute, painting Cruise as some kind of Messianic figure:

Clip # 3 features Cruise hyping his detox program for 9/11 rescue workers. Tom at one point claims that, because he's a Scientologist, he immediately saw through the EPA's lies about the air quality in Manhattan after the attack. You need to be a Scientologist to know the government is full of shit, apparently:

Clip # 4 details Tom's efforts to help with America's educational crisis:

Clip # 5 concerns the Scientology line on psychiatric drugs, which the narrator proclaims are "at the heart of all educational failures.":

Clip #6 had a fucked-up link on the page I got it from so I couldn't get the embed code. Go here to see it. It's called "Cruise: Promotional Tool." In some ways it's the scariest of the bunch. Tom talks about a discussion he had with a young interviewer.

Clip # 7 is Tom ranting. Laughing like a maniac. Declaring that only a Scientologist can help a person who's been in an accident. Really, this dude is fucking insane:

Clip # 8 is Tom's acceptance speech. Mission: Impossible music plays as he takes the stage. He salutes Miscavige after that nutty Scientology ripped-off Navy fashion L. Ron Hubbard dreamed up (wonder how Naval folks feel about their stuff being mocked by a bunch of cultists). The idiots cheer him forever and blow horns. They sound like they've all been drinking. Scientologists apparently know how to party. Tom talks to L. Ron Hubbard as if he were not dead. I will not sleep tonight.

Update: The videos are already gone. The site I found them on no longer has them embedded. Cruise's people work fast. I guess you'll have to take my word for it that they were creepy and weird. Perhaps they will resurface somewhere else.

A question for Scientology defenders: The videos were a celebration of Tom Cruise and his beneficence. So, why have they been removed? Why were they not made public in the first place? Why is Scientology so ashamed of itself?

I was fortunate enough to see the clips before they were removed and I must say that now I've truly seen. it. all.

That "presentation" (and I use the term loosely) was so over-the-top I almost couldn't believe it was legitimate and not some sort of spoof or a skit from Saturday Night Live.

Consider this: David Miscarriage, er, Miscavige, Scientology's "Grand Poobah" and unarguably one of the two most powerful men in Scientology, awards the *other* most powerful man in Scientology-- the "Freedom Medal of Valor", the cult's most prestigious award. Things that make 'ya go "Hmmmmmmmm..."

They proceed to salute one another, shake hands vigorously, grin like idiots, pat one another on the back, and enthusiastically suck each other's dicks.... as if this tacky trinket were such a coveted and greatly-esteemed honor.. (and not just the big 'ol lump of pretentious caca that it is)
BTW, Tom pretty much wins this "award" every year. Big surprise, there.

Oh, and re: the first clip, wherein Miscavige emphasizes ad infinitum that it's every Scientologist's responsibility to "carry forth the urgent mission" and that "when their heads hit the pillow each night, are they truly satisfied that they have done all they can to apply Scientology in all they do. "

I have to wonder just how "responsible to the mission" Katie has been since becoming "Mrs. ScienTOMogy", and whether or not she's been "doing all she can for the cause" while she's out there shopping herself silly at Niemen Marcus eight days a week.
Come to think of it, she's probably exempt. She paid for certain "freedoms" with a chubby, asian baby that Tommyboy could call his very own.

Man, I wish I could have seen those... It's great that you're linking to stuff like this.
*applause and mad salutes for Crabbie*! ;-)

It's no wonder that they take stuff like this down all the time. They just don't like the context... You're obviously critical of the Co$, and EVERYTHING a critical person does is wrong by default. So linking to their own promo's by a critical person = wrong.
I mean, if you're in scientology & a familymember you love is critical of it, you'll be asked to 'disconnect' from that familymember as well. This means that you're not supposed to see them anymore. Doesn't matter if it's your father, your sister, your son, your best friend... You can't speak to them anymore.
So, taking down a little link is minor compared to that.

I think that by now most people recognise Scientology for the dangerous cult that it is, but somehow I hope that an 'actual' scientologist (perhaps one that has been forced to disconnect from loved ones and misses them) will stumble over these video's as well.
And then actually looks at them and THINKS about it instead of just blindly attacking critics and defending whatever he/she is led to believe without any second thought. Using their own brain instead of being told what to think and how to think it.

I despise the higher ranking scientologists like the dollar-hungry Miscavaige who abuse their power & ego-massaged people who actively promote it like Cruise, but I feel only pity for the 'common scientologists'.
These poor people are completely brainwashed & one day, when they wake up, they will have to live with the knowledge that they were manipulated, used and abused, and tried to get innocent & vulnerable people into their cult as well.
I really do feel sorry for them.

The act of hiding is truly suspicious to even the most daft person. If something can't stand the light of day, it undoubtedly stinks.
